It’s not often we see the USA send their gymnasts to international competitions but following the Winter Cup last weekend it was announced that we will be seeing Danell Leyva, Jake Dalton, Steven Legendre and Alex Naddour at the French World Cup event in La Roche Sur Yon on March 16th and 17th.
The line up has changed slightly for this Individual Apparatus competition since the original roster was released. We will not be seeing Aliya Mustafina, Elsabeth Black, Yamilet Pena, Celine Van Gerner, Nastassia Marachkouskaya and Elisabeth Seitz competing on the WAG side. None the less, the competition will be dashed with Olympic medallsts such as Fabian Hambuechen, Maria Paseka, Krisztian Berki, Denis Ablyazin, Max Whitlock, Hamilton Sabot, Igor Radivilov, Eleftherios Kosmidis, Ksenia Afanaseyva and veteran Oksana Chusovitina.
On the plus side of the likes of Mustafina or Seitz withdrawing we will see Great Britain’s 2008 Olympian, Becky Downie compete on bars. Becky has had a rough two years plagued with injury so we should look forward to her return to International competition. Also competing will be Canada’s Kaitlyn Hoffland who most recently competed at the Glasgow World Cup in December.
Keep an eye on the participants here. The last updated version was February 14th with some positions still to be filled in the WAG competition on bars and floor.
