Tweet This weekend sees the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships taking place in Minsk and the second FIG Trampoline Gymnastics and Tumbling World Cup of 2011 which will be held in St. Petersburg.
33 nations will participate in the senior category and 23 with junior groups in the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships. This is an increase on participation in the 2009 European Championships. All eyes will be on Russia’s star rhythmic gymnast, the 2010 European and World Champion Evgenia Kanaeva.

Tweet Last week we linked to a story online that Malaysian rhythmic gymnastics star Elaine Koon was considering quitting gymnastics. According to new reports online, Elaine has finally made a decision and packed gymnastics in. Reports cite that there have been numerous problems with the National Team Coach Elena Kholodova. Reports claim that Kholodova is said to have mistreated Koon, forcing her to train when injured and was denied attention from health professionals just before the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Dehli.

Tweet The 30th FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships will get underway in Moscow’s Olympiysky Sports Complex on September 19th – 26th.
