Tweet We are all aware that next year is a huge year for gymnastics with the London 2012 Olympic Games beginning in exactly a years time. Today the FIG released the proposed calender of events for FIG World Cup & Series the 2012 – 2013 gymnastics season.
We can look forward to the following events:
As well as the London 2012 Olympics (July 28th – August 7th), WAG Euopean Championships in Brussels May 8th – 13th and the MAG European Championships in Montpellier May 21st – 27th.

Tweet The FIG has being doing a fantastic job over the last couple of months keeping us gymnastics fans updated. Results and reports from events have been made available almost instantly after events have finished and the FIG YouTube channel was excellent during the World Championships in 2010.

Many gymnastics blogs have reported the big news of FIG President Bruno Grandi’s recognition that the current Code Of Points (CoP) is a “ticking time bomb”. I’m delighted that he has finally acknowledged that something must be done with the CoP, nothing will change until after the London 2012 Olympics. Tweet The 27th World Championships in Trampoline, Tumbling and Double Mini Trampolining begin today in Metz, France. Les Arènes Sports Complex will host the competition with 261 gymnasts (150 men and 111 women) from 34 different federations registered to compete. Gymnasts will compete in the Individual competitions in Individual Trampoline, Tumbling and Double Mini-Trampoline as well as Synchronised Trampoline events.

Tweet Last week during the World Gymnastics Championships, British Gymnastics submitted a bid to host the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
BG submitted the paperwork to bid for the event just one year after the Worlds were held at the O2 arena in London which will also be the gymnastics venue for the London 2012 Olympics. Under proposals, the event would be staged at the 12,500 capacity £125 million Scottish National Arena in Glasgow. it’s due to open in 2013 and stage the Commonwealth Games gymnastic events in 2014. Tweet The FIG have rejected North Korea’s appeal:
The arguments and explanations provided do not justify a reconsideration of the provisional decision made by the President of the FIG Disciplinary Commission.
Consequently, the suspension, which was announced on 6 October 2010, will not be lifted. The Gymnastics Association of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (PRK) is not allowed to compete at national and international levels.
According to the procedure, the FIG Disciplinary Commission will meet in the near future and will invite the parties to a hearing, before finalizing and delivering its …

The All Around has just posted on their Facebook that the North Korea Gymnastics Federation have launched an appeal for the to FIG against the decision to ban the Federation from competition for 30 days.

On October 1, 2010, the FIG has initiated a disciplinary procedure against the Gymnastics Association of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (PRK) and their gymnast Ms. Hong Su Jong for alleged age infractions and false registrations.

Tweet The FIG has come down hard on North Korea for the latest age falsification scandal. Disiplinary procedures have been initiated against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (PRK) and the gymnast involved, Hong Su Jong. The FIG have banned the North Korean Gymnastics Federation from entering international and national competitions for 30 days. As this is effective immediately, North Korea will not be eligible to take part in the upcoming World Gymnastics Championships in Rotterdam.
