We are all aware that next year is a huge year for gymnastics with the London 2012 Olympic Games beginning in exactly a years time. Today the FIG released the proposed calender of events for FIG World Cup & Series the 2012 – 2013 gymnastics season.
We can look forward to the following events:
LAUSANNE (SUI), FIG Office, July 26, 2011: Following an authorisation by the FIG Executive Committee, the new “Rules for the FIG World Cup Competitions and Series” have been approved by the Federation’s Presidential Commission in its meeting on July 15, 2011. The document will be officially valid from January 1st, 2012 and is available on the FIG website hereas of today.
In addition, the provisional World Cup & Series calendar 2012 – 2013 was released today. This calendar will be officially approved by the Presidential Commission during its meeting early in September 2011.
The list of FIG World Cup & Series events is sorted by All Around competitions, then World Cup Cat. A and Challenge Cup. Except the Artistic All Around competitions, the new Series will start in January 2012 until December 2012.
The ART AA events will also start on January 1, 2012 and will come to the end of April 2013. This is a result of the meeting of June 20, 1011, in Zurich with the FIG Presidential Commission and the Organising Member Federations of these most important events. The aim was to create a compact, attractive World Cup Series which bridges over the year and begins after the World Championships or the Olympic Games.
