In this series, Full Twist contributor Anna Rose Johnson updates readers on the journey of dynamic 16-year-old Felicia Hano of Gym-Max. Since we last caught up with Felicia in September, she has been to the U.S. World Championships selection camp in Huntsville, Texas. “My experience at selection camp was overall a lot of fun!” Felicia told Full Twist. “I had a lot of fun competing and seeing all the girls!”
The selection camp was held September 15-23rd, and the World team was announced on the 17th. “This camp was a bit less demanding because it was more like a competition,” remarked Felicia. “We had one short workout every morning, and then a competition in the afternoon. A proud moment for me was after finishing the competition, knowing that I gave it all that I had.”
Felicia is already focused on the next elite season. “My plans for this autumn are working on upgrades on all the events! I don’t think we have any competitions, just training camps.” The next camp will be held October 23rd-27th, and international assignments for the World Cups in Stuttgart and Glasgow are expected to be announced shortly afterward.
When asked if there was anything she’d like to tell the Full Twist readers, Felicia replied, “Hopefully expect some upgrades and bars for the 2015 season!” (Felicia competed the 2014 season as a three-event specialist, excluding bars.)
The third part of this series will be released in November.
Many thanks to Felicia for providing us with insight into her gymnastics!
