All you need to know: 2013 Secret US Classic

The Sears Centre arena, Illinois will place host to the 2013 edition of the Secret US Classic competition on Saturday July 27th.

Timing and Schedule

  • Junior Women’s Session – 1pm
  • Senior Women’s Session – 6pm

In term’s of timing for international fans, here’s what you need to know:

  • London =  6 hours ahead
  • Paris = 7 hours ahead
  • Sydney = 15 hours ahead
  • Perth = 13 hours ahead
  • Bucharest = 8 hours ahead
  • Rio De Janeiro = 2 hours ahead
  • Tokyo = 14 hours ahead
  • Beijing = 13 hours ahead

 

Past Winners

Since 2008 members of the Fierce Five have been present on the podium every year. 2008 saw Jordyn Wieber take Junior gold, 2009 was the turn of Kyla Ross for Junior gold, Wieber took gold again as a Junioe in 2010 while Aly Raisman took the senior gold in 2011 and 2012. Ross once again claimed gold in the Junior competition in 2011. Currently Raisman holds the senior title whereas Simone Biles holds the Junior title from 2012. See past winners here.

The only returning members of the Fierce Five this year will be Kyla Ross and McKayla Maroney.

Online Coverage

The exciting news is that the Secret US Classic will be live streamed online. To add to the excitement, 1996 Olympic team gold-medalist Amanda Borden and Samantha Peszek, 2007 World team gold medalist, will provide analysis and commentary for the 2013 Secret U.S. Classic webcast.

USA Gymnastics will provide a free webcast of both the junior, 1 p.m. CT, and senior, 6 p.m. CT. View the live stream hereThe webcast will be available worldwide free of charge. Following the competition, the webcast, along with every routine competed, will be archived on the USA Gymnastics YouTube channel.

    Elizabeth price said she was competing two events, has she since withdrawn or is her name just missing?!

    Her aunt announced on Twitter that she will not be competing. Tweeted on July 19th ” She was going to be doing VT&UB. She tweaked her opp. hip on FX tumbling pass yesterday & to be safe,decision was made not to go.”
