Gabrielle Jupp, one of Great Britain’s top elite gymnasts, recently tore her right ACL just before the 2015 English Championships. “I had my operation 10 days ago so [my recovery is in its] early days,” Jupp told Full Twist contributor Anna Rose Johnson. Jupp explained that her legs are much stronger than when she tore her left ACL in early 2013. “I feel I’m in a much better starting position this time around,” she told us.

When she tore her left ACL, Jupp was out of competition for well over a year. She returned in time for the 2014 World Championships, where she helped the British team place sixth in the team final. “Last time I was only 15 years old and still growing so my rehab took longer and also I had to have a second operation which put me back further,” Jupp explained. “This time, the plan is for me to rehab faster and all going well, I will be back in full training by the end of the year.”

Jupp added, “I would like to thank people for their kind wishes. I’m gutted and so disappointed as I was looking forward to showing my new beam and bar routines at the British Championships, but all being well I will get to compete them in the not too distant future.”

We wish Gabrielle all the best in her recovery!
