Last night at 11.59pm was the deadline for applying for tickets for the London 2012 Olympics if you are from the UK and Ireland, the deadline was extended due to a massive surge over interest around the 10.30pm mark. Reports are now showing that the tickets in demand at this time were for sports such as Archery and Rhythmic Gymnastics.
Group applications from ballet classes and gymnastics clubs have helped fuel demand for the rhythmic gymnastics sessions at Wembley Arena.
“Rhythmic gymnastics is very popular and I think a lot of gymnastics and ballet clubs have said: ‘Let’s take the class and go and see world-class performers as we might not get another chance.'”

Good news for rhythmic gymnastics in the UK, perhaps this is as a result of England and Wales success at the Commonwealth Games. The English team of Francesca Fox, Rachel Ennis and Lynne Hutchison came third in the team final in Dehli behind Canada and Australia. Francesca Jones of Wales ( receiver of the Olympic Solidarity Athlete Scholarship from the IOC) also won a silver medal in the hoop event.
