The official website of Aliya Mustafina has confirmed that she has withdrawn from the upcoming Stuttgart World Cup in December. This marks the first withdrawal from a competition of the 2012 – 2013 competition season. This decision has reported to have been made by new Russian Head Coach Evgeny Grebenkin, who this week replaced Alexander Alexandrov in the top position.
The new head coach Grebyonkin decided not to send any gymnasts to the Stuttgart World Cup (December 1-2) to allow the athletes more time to recover from post-olympic injuries. Aliya won’t be competing at the Stuttgart World Cup this year.
