Irish gymnasts Kieran Behan and Luke Carson were both in the original Cottbus Cup line up, unfortunately for Carson he had to pull out of competition earlier this week due to a recent injury – best of luck with recovery Luke. Kieran Behan however traveled to Germany to compete in the Cottbus Cup.

Behan was due to compete on floor, vault and high bar but decided only to compete on floor. A great decision by the Irish gymnast, his coach Simon Gale and Irish Judge Colm Murray, Kieran placed 8th on floor – so close to making the final. Unfortunately he lost out on a place due to his E score but should be so proud to have represented Ireland so well at this big event. World Floor Champion Eleftherios Kosmides is quoted as saying “I’ll see you in the next final” to Kieran. The next finals will be the European Championships in Berlin in April… fingers crossed!!

Thanks to a member of Tolworth Gymnastics Club where Behan trains who was kind enough to leave Full Twist a comment letting us know of his fantastic achievement. An update of Kierans success was published on the Irish Gymnastics website earlier today.
If you’d like to read more about Kieran, I’d recommend reading this article published in the The Independent in 2007. Kieran has overcome so many obstacles to be at the standard he is today and to be known as one of Ireland tops gymnasts. For someone who was told at the age of 12 that it was unlikely he would ever walk again, he’s done extremely well! Well done Kieran, here’s to the European Championships!!
