Felicia Hano’s 2014 gymnastics journey is drawing to an end, but she’s already preparing for 2015. Anna Rose Johnson fills us in on the final part of her journey for 2014.
Felicia, whom we previously chatted with in September and October, is satisfied with her competitive season. “This past year of competition was probably my best season yet!” Felicia told Full Twist. “I felt my performances all season were pretty consistent and I felt pretty pleased with myself.”
At the end of October, Felicia attended the National Team Training Camp. “October camp went really well!” she said. “I showed my upgrades on all my events and Martha and the national team coaches were pretty pleased with my performance.” Felicia also attended the November camp.
After a busy summer and fall that included P&Gs, Pan Ams, and Worlds selection camp, and Felicia is reworking her routines. “I have a few upgrades I’ve been working on [for] all four events,” noted Felicia. “I have the same floor routine, but we changed some parts, so I’m excited to show my upgrades and routines next season.”
Not only does Felicia have plans for next season, she is also looking ahead to 2016. “My short-term goals would be getting new skills and [integrating] them consistently [into] my routines. My long-term goals would be to get some international assignments! Rio is definitely in the back of my mind, and if it happens that I go, that would be awesome!! But if I don’t, at least I know I tried and gave it my all!”
Much like this year, 2015 should be packed with competitions for this rising star from Gym-Max. “Jesolo might be my first competition, but my main focus right now is the Pan Am Games in July and hopefully making that team,” said Felicia.
The gymnastics world is eagerly anticipating Felicia’s foray into the second half of the quadrennium, as Rio de Janeiro looms now in the not-so-distant future.
Many thanks to Felicia for answering our questions and to Denise Hano for her assistance! We wish Felicia the best of luck in 2015.
