Since September 2014, Full Twist has been following the journey of U.S. senior national team member Felicia Hano as she prepares for the 2015 season. Anna Rose Johnson recently checked in with Felicia about her training.  “Training has been going really well!” said Felicia. “I’ve been trying to integrate some new skills into my routine parts; just seeing whether they work well in the routine or not.”

Felicia’s schedule will be getting busier as the summer competition season approaches. “A typical day for me would be wake up and go to school,” she noted. “Then right after school, [I] head over to the gym and train for about 6 or 7 hours. After practice I go home and do homework! Somehow in the midst of all that I make time for family and friends!”

Last year, Felicia did not compete in the all-around at the Secret Classic or P&G Championships, choosing to skip uneven bars. “At this point right now, my focus and training is set to do all-around this summer,” Felicia told us. “I’m really excited!”

The powerful and polished gymnast explained some of her upgrades for the 2015 season. “I mostly have upgrades on floor and bars,” Felicia commented. “On floor, I’ve been working [a] whip+double layout and the Biles. Hopefully I can get those into my routine for this season! I’ve been also working a double squat turn. On bars, it’s mostly just putting the skills I already have together, just in a different order, and I’ve been working a new dismount!”

When asked what else she’d like to share, Felicia added, “Just that I can’t wait to compete and be prepared for some new upgrades!”

Felicia’s next competition could be the Pan American Games in July, so stay tuned!
