Tweet After Great Britain’s Men’s team secured their place at the London 2012 Olympics Daniel Keatings described the qualifying competition as a very emotional event. The crowd roared as Team GB secured their place, 7 marks higher than France in second place, and the gymnasts could finally breath a sigh of relief having spent long days in the gym in Lilleshall over the Christmas period.

Tweet The semi state electricity company Electric Ireland has been named as the Official Energy Partner to Ireland’s Olympic Teamm. Last Monday, January 9th marked 200 days to the start of the London 2012 Olympic Games. To celebrate Electric Ireland’s sponsorship of Ireland’s Olympics Team, Countdown Clocks were installed at the ESB Head office on Lower Fitzwilliam Street, Dublin and also at the Electric Ireland Offices in Swift Square, Santry Co. Dublin.

Tweet The American multi-national corporation Proctor and Gamble (P&G) are set to partner with 2010 World Vault Champion Alicia Sacramone to promote their beauty range.  Her involvement is in addition to P&G’s partnership with USA Gymnastics and its global marketing partnership with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in support of the Olympic Movement, which will reach through the next five Olympic Games from London 2012 through the 2020 Olympic Games.

Tweet Less than 4 months after receiving surgery for torn foot ligament, USA’s Jonathan Horton, World High Bar Silver medallist will return to competition at the annual Winter Challenger Cup in Las Vegas next month. Scheduled for February 2nd to 4th, Horton intends to only compete on Rings and Pommel Horse. He will choose not to dismount on Rings to save his foot, which currently still has screws in place.  It may sound odd, but he has his reasons. Tweet In October 2011, British Gymnastics dealt with the major blow to their Olympic Dream when the Men’s Artistic Team failed to qualify for the Games through the first qualification process. Luckily the team, who had a second chance, secured their place in style last week at the London 2012 Test Event, scoring 7 points higher than second place France. She has made sculptures of many people from different backgrounds including musicians, medics, businesspeople, sportspeople, fitness instructors, artists, designers, lawyers. Tweet On Thursday night Chile’s  Enrique Tomas Gonzalez Sepulveda  claimed the gold medal at the London 2012 Test Event Floor Final. Tying with Great Britain’s Daniel Purvis, Gonzalez picked up the gold medal with a top score of 15.466,  edging Ireland’s newest Olympian Kieran Behan out of the medals. Gonzalez showed that he is seriously in contention for an Olympic medal, he previously ranked 6th in the 2011 World Championships Floor final and placed 15th in the All Around at the 2010 Worlds.

Tweet I saw esteemed FIG photographer Eileen Langlsey around the arena a lot last week. Langsley is fantastic photographer, she really captures great images during gymnastics events especially. Langsley was working at the Test Event last week in preparation for her 13th Olympic Games. Tweet I am shocked to hear this news this morning. Our beautiful 2010 World Beam Champion has announced her retirement from the sport of gymnastics, just aged 18 years old. Ana had a tough year this year, not making the beam finals at Worlds must have been the final moment for her before confirming her decision to retire as well as an unfortunate series of injuries.

Tweet Just before Christmas it was announced that french star and  2010 World Vault Champion Thomas Bouhail suffered an injury whilst training for the London 2012 Test Event. Bouhail is said to have suffered a bad fracture to his tibia – fibula in training, the injury required surgery and will require a lot of physiotherapy and rehabilitation.

It has emerged this week however, via his official website, that he will not take part in the London 2012 Olympics with his team. Both the MAG and WAG French teams qualified for London …

Tweet The Artistic Gymnastics London 2012 Test Event concluded tonight with the Men’s High Bar, Parallel Bar and Vault final as well as the Women’s Floor and Balance Beam final. There was some really tough competition, especially in the Men’s Vault and Women’s Floor final. Today however was not World Beam Champion Sui Lu’s day, falls off and on beam helped her score a low. Videos are currently being uploaded to the Full Twist YouTube Channel.
