Tweet The final list of competitors for the Glasgow World Cup was released today. I’m disappointed to say that Lauren Mitchell and Ariella Kaeslin have followed Qiushuang and withdrawn from the competition this weekend. I haven’t heard that Mitchell or Kaeslin are injured, I suspect Kaeslin is exhausted after the Euros though. Jiang Yuyuan has also withdrawn, perhaps too close to the Chinese Nationals competition in a few weeks. Very disappointing.

What a pity, I was looking forward to seeing all 3 gymnasts so much. View the new revised line up …

Here is what Beth has to say about retaining her European title with her new bar routine:
“British sport at the minute is on the up, everybody’s ready for the 2012 Games. Everyone’s ready to make that final step up. To reach the Olympics is everyone’s dream but to have it with that home crowd …

Tweet The Men and Women compete in the All Around competitions today.  It should be a fantastic competition, for the Women especially. I fully expect Mustafina to take the title but Dementyeva to also perform excellently. Seitz should also perform well on home turf. I see the 2 Russians on the podium but the other spot could be anyone’s should they keep it together. Numerous bloggers picked Musatfina as their All Around champion and Phillip Boy for the Men. Check out the discussion here.

Tweet Today saw the Men’s Qualification event take place. Great Britain’s Theo Seager and Ireland’s Luke Carson has to withdraw from competition due to injury, a pity. Theo’s work from podium training sounded fantastic.Seager is said to have been  taken to hospital having hyperextended both knees in vault training earlier on Thursday. The British team are waiting for news of his condition.

Tweet Gymnastics Examiner and International Gymnast have so far been doing a fantastic job of live blogging from the podium training at Europeans this week. Yesterday began with the Women’s Podium Training. Beth Tweddle and Hannah Whelan were in the later slot to Jennifer Pinches and Danusia Francis and trained yesterday evening.
The reports from the live blogs showed that Beth seemed to be having some trouble yesterday, a little on bars and more on floor.

From Gymnastics Examiner yesterday:
7:32 p.m.: Tweddle, floor: 1.5 to Arabian double front, rather heavy landing …

Tweet The British media has been a flurry for the past week or so with news of their gymnasts ahead of the European Championships.
Louis Smith and coach Paul Hall are raising the bar
I absolutely love this piece from The Telegraph, it’s very honest from both Paul Halls side and Louis Smiths side.
When I was young I was probably the worst kind of kid to coach: the problem child from hell. I had ADHD, a short attention span and I was just crazy.
I hate it now when I meet someone like …

Tweet Last week we reported that Daniel Keatings was not chosen as a gymnast to represent Great Britain at the up-coming European Championships next week in Berlin. Daniel has written an opinion piece for The Telegraph where he discusses his recovery and how his aim when overcoming injury was to compete at the European Championships.

..although things are definitely falling back into place after such a long absence, I am still a little bit rusty and the decision has been taken for me not to compete at next week’s European Championships …
