Since the announcement that Jordan Wieber will compete at the American Cup this weekend in place of Nicole Hibbert we’ve all been wondering, for what reason? I saw a bit of a buzz about twitter and various forums that she was injured.
British Gymnastics issued a press release this morning, confirming Nicole’s injury:

Today Beth Tweddle will be featured on BBC 1′s pre Olympic documentary “British Olympic Dreams”. The documentary teams follow Team GB hopefuls in the run up to 2012, focusing on their preparations to date.

British Gymnastics have just announced that from February 7th they will be launching ‘Excel Coaching Tip of the week’ on BGTV. It sounds like it will be similar to the Gymnastics Minute with tips being given from top GB coaches. A great initiative from BG!
A new Excel Coaching Tip of the week will be released every Monday throughout 2011, with each video being presented by a top GB coach, covering all gymnastics disciplines.

Tweet And another gymnast is out for the first half of the 2011 season following an Achilles Injury. British Gymnastics reports that Becky Downie suffered the injury in training.
Becky says:
“I am of course very disappointed to have suffered from this injury, but remain very positive about the future and am looking ahead to working hard with the British Gymnastics Medical Team to ensure that I do everything I can to be in a position to return strongly, and continue my journey towards London 2012.”

Tweet This week some British gymnasts were at Lilleshall. Louis Smith tweeted a picture of a photo shoot in progress, he also tweeted a few days earlier that he was at a GB training camp. British Gymnastics official photographer Alan Edwards of F2 Images tweeted a link to some photos he took of Imogen Cairns and her coach Liz Kincaid at Lilleshall. Click through to view them, Imogen is just beautiful.

Tweet It seems like reporters were doing the rounds with Louis Smith while he was doing a photo shoot for the BMW London 2012 Performance Team earlier this month.

Great Britain’s Jennifer Pinches, Danusia Francis, Becky Downie and Laura Mitchell are all on Twitter as are Louis Smith and Reiss Beckford. There’s nothing hugely interesting or gymnastics related on the girls accounts. Danusia seems to be under going physio at the moment . Tweet Yesterday Great Britain’s Louis Smith joined some other stars of the GBR sporting world to promote BMW as the official automotive partner of the London 2012 Games. The initiative is designed to support the Team GB Olympic and Paralympic athletes as they prepare for the Games.
