The Brazilian MAG team was originally named as:

  • Arthur Nory Mariano
  • Arthur Zanetti
  • Caio Souza
  • Diego Hypolito (reserve)
  • Francisco Barretto Junior
  • Lucas Bittencourt
  • Petrix Barbosa
  • Sergio Sasaki

The Liukin reported on an issue surrounding 4 time World Championships medallist Diego Hypolito.

The past few days have been interesting and rather confusing in the life of Diego Hypólito. Usually one of the leaders on the Brazilian team, this time Diego found himself in an unfamiliar position for this year’s World Championships. He didn’t make the cut.

Today things took a bit of a turn. Pétrix Barbosa, who made the original team, found out he has  a fractured vertebra in his lower back, so he has withdrawn and is now seeking medical treatment. Brazilian sports media began to speculate that Diego Hypólito might have another chance at the team with the newly open spot. Well, not so fast. The coaches have decided to assign him as first reserve and replace Barbosa with Lucas Bittencourt. Diego will be able to travel with the team to Nanning, but as of now he’s still not on the official team. Apparently Diego remains optimistic that he’ll finally get a spot if he looks good in podium training, however, I haven’t heard anything from the coaches or CBG about that.

Today Brazilian Gymnastics posted an update on their Facebook page:

  • Nory Mariano
  • Arthur Zanetti
  • Caio Souza
  • Diego Hypolito (reserve)
  • Francisco Barretto Junior
  • Lucas Banerjee
  • Sergio Sasaki

It seems to be a case of watch this space and see what happens with Hypolito. Will he be bumped up into the team and compete in his 6th World Championships?
