What’s next in 2013?


Artistic gymnastics fans had our fill during the World Championships but now that it’s over we are looking for more. Let’s take a look at the upcoming events towards the end of 2013.


Leverkusen Cup

  • Date: 12th October
  • Location: Germany
  • Discipline: WAG & MAG (AA & Team competition)
  • Competitors: We won’t be seeing top names but possibly stars of the future. In the past the AA competition has been won by Kim Janas, Elisabeth Seitz, Dorina Boczogo, Elisa Menghini, Cagla Aykol, Aagje van Walleghem and Lisa Katharina Hill. Gymnasts will compete from Germany, South Africa, Great Britain, Netherlands, Slovenia. Well known names include Kim Janas, Nadia Schulze and Maartje Ruikes.

East Asia Games 2013

  • Date: 11th – 14th October
  • Location: Tianjin, China
  • Discipline: MAG & WAG
  • Competitors: Tan Sixin, Wu Liufang, Huang Qiushuang, Yang Zhang, Zhang Yelinzi, HongUn Jong, Ri Se Gwang, Angel Wong, Kenya Kobayashi, Yusuke Tanaka, Yuko Shintake, Sakura Noda, Shogo Nonomura are among those said to be competing.

Junior Pan American Club Cup

  • Date: 28th October – 3rd November
  • Location: Puebla, Mexico
  • Discipline: MAG & WAG
  • Competitors: Unknown, MAG aged 14 – 17 and WAG aged 13 – 15

Arthur Gander Memorial

  • Date: 30th October
  • Location: Switzerland
  • Discipline: MAG & WAG (AA competition)
  • Competitors: Marcel Nguyen, Giulia Steingruber and Claudio Capelli are all confirmed, other names have not yet been released. Invites have been extended to China, Romania, Brazil, Great Britain, France, Russia, Canada and Italy.

Olympic Hopes Cup 2013

  • Date: 1st – 3rd November
  • Location: Liberic, Czech Republic
  • Discipline: MAG & WAG Junior
  • Competitors: Unknown as yet. Last years competition showed Noemi Makra, Tyesha Mattis and Amy Tinkler on the WAG podium.

 Swiss Cup 2013

  • Date: 3rd November
  • Location: Zurich, Switzerland
  • Discipline: MAG & WAG, a paired competition
  • Competitors: Giulia Steingruber & Claudio Capelli, Ilaria Kaeslin & Oliver Hegi. The official website still has last years competitors listed

Northern Europeans

 Abierto Mexicano de Gimnasia 2013

  • Date: 28th – 30th November 2013
  • Location: Acapulco, Mexico
  • Discipline: MAG & WAG
  • Competitors: Invitations were extended to the following nations: USA, Brazil, Ukraine, Great Britain, Italy, Russia, Spain, Canada, Colombia and Mexico.

 ENBW Stuttgart World Cup 2013

  • Date: November 30th – December 1st
  • Location: Stuttgart, Germany
  • Discipline: MAG & WAG (AA competition)
  • Competitors: No information as yet

Mikhail Voronin Cup 2013

  • Date: 3rd – 4th December
  • Location: Moscow, Russia
  • Discipline: MAG & WAG
  • Competitors: No information as yet

Glasgow World Cup

  • Date: 7th December
  • Location: Glasgow, United Kingdom
  • Discipline: MAG & WAG (AA competition)
  • Competitors: Invites are extended to the top 8 MAG & WAG gymnasts from Worlds

  • Date: 14th & 15th December
  • Location: Toyota, Japan
  • Discipline: MAG & WAG
  • Competitors: As yet not available

    The Swiss Cup website has been updated. for example, gb are sending Raer Theaker and Reiss Beckford. Russia are sending Maria Paseka. Can’t remember the others off the top of my head.

    There’s also the ISF Gymnasiade (World school games) at the end of November in Brasilia. Junior MAG and WAG , with teams from Russia, Brazil, England, Italy, France ,China and lots more confirmed.
