USAG post – Olympic tour announcement

Yesterday USA Gymnastics and AEG announced that they have formed a partnership to stage a tour of the 2012 and 2016 Gymnastics Champions from the London and Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. The tours will feature the USA’s top gymnasts, Olympic medalists and former champions.

Nastia Liukin has been named in the line up as a participant,a tour Spokesperson and as a Creative Director. Details of the 10 week, 40 city tour can be found on USA Gymnastics.

Yet again, this leaves me wondering about Nastia’s “comeback”. Can she possibly train properly for 2012 and organise this tour? What do YOU think? Can Nastia juggle both? Or is this the answer we were looking for, that she won’t be trying for London 2012?

I personally think there’s no way Nastia’s really going for 2012. Not enough time – and the other major problem, not enough spots on the team. I HATE the 3-up, 3-count rule. Takes all the fun out of the competition. Let’s go back to the days of Mag 7 – keyword there, SEVEN. I’d like to take the person who thought of (and approved) the 5-3-3 format and knock his/her head against the wall. Dumbass.

Anyway, back to topic, I would bet $100 that Nastia won’t be at Trials next year or really go out for the Olympic team.

As much as I like Nastia competing and would like to see her do it again, I Don’t think she will make it!
Like the comment above said, there is enough spots on the team… and if she was to compete i doubt she would be ready for AA.. so probably would try to get in as beam and bars specialist? who knows.. only time will tell..but I don’t see it happening!

  3. david says:

i dont think spots on the team is the issue. if she were top three on bars and beam, there would be room for her on the team. but i dont think she’s really training. however, i will say that the creative director of the tour title is probably just that, a title. i doubt she’s really doing any of the organizing or planning.
