Team Results: South East Asian Games 2015

The Men’s Team competition kicked off the 2015 edition of the South East Asian Games.  Vietnam retained the team title, last won in 2011, with a very big margin of over 25 points over Thailand who also placed second in 2011. Vietnam had a very strong competition, scoring on top on all apparatus, only to be beaten be beaten on Pommel Horse by Thailand.

In the All Around standings, Vietnam had the top five highest scoring gymnasts. PHAM Phuoc Hung qualified in first place (86.900), perhaps indicating that he may improve on his second place AA ranking in the 2011 SEA Games. DINH Phuong Thanh ranked second (85.600), HOANG Cuong third (84.700), LE Thanh Tung fourth (84.000) and DANG Nam in fifth (82.750).

In the Women’s competition, Singapore, were without star gymnast Lim Heem Wei who announced her retirement in 2014, failed to retain their team title won in 2011. The team competition saw Malaysia on top with 206.200 and Singapore in second.

Looking ahead into the All Around final, Malaysia’s Farah Ann Abdul Hadi qualified in first place with 53.250, Singapore’s Nadine Nathan in second (51.700) and Vietnam’s Phan Thi Ha Thanh qualified in third with 51.450.
