Tweet Irish gymnasts have continued to impress in Athens, winning another 3 medals today at the Special Olympics World Summer Games. Laura Rumball from Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin placed 3rd on both Uneven Bars and Balance Beam and won a silver medal on floor in Level 2 at her first World Summer Games. Congratulations Laura!!

Tweet The Special Olympics World Games 2011 will take place in Athens, Greece June 25th – July 4th. 7,500 Special Olympics Athletes from 185 nations will compete in 21 Olympic-type sports. These will be the first games that founder Eunice Kennedy Shriver will not attend, Ms Shriver passed away in 2009.

1,900 Special Olympics athletes from the 4 corners of Ireland will travel to Limerick to participate in the 4-day residential Games, in 13 sports competitions, held in various venues in Limerick.
