Tweet The Olympic Floor Champion has begun competing bars once again. She debuted her new bars at the ROM V SUI V GER friendly last weekend. She scored 13.200 which in my opinion isn’t bad for getting it together in such a short space of time.

Tweet While their female counterparts were taking on the Italians, the French men took on the Dutch and Spanish in Chaumont last weekend.  The french continued their winning streak from the WAG competition, into the mens, winning with a score of 351.05 ahead of the Spanish 347.70 and the Dutch 310.65.  In the AA competition, Hamilton Sabot from France took first place with 88.50, followed by Spain’s Rafael Martinez 87.75 and Javier Gomez from Spain with 86.85.

Tweet Two more World Championships warm up competitions were held last weekend between the French and Italians, this was a WAG only competition. A friendly warm up was also held between the French, Dutch and Spanish Men at the same venue in France.

2011 MAG British Champs Poster

Tweet Last month we posted that the 2011 MAG British Championships will take place this month. British Gymnastics have released the schedule for the event. The Championships will take place this weekend September 16th – 18th in Fenton Manor Sports Complex, Stoke on Trent.
British Gymnastics expect the senior AA competition to be tough and interesting with Daniel Keatings, Daniel Purvis, Sam Hunter, Sam Oldham, Kristian Thomas and Ruslan Panteleymonov all in contention for the title. Tweet With only 24 days to go, the FIG have launched their micro-site for the 2011 World Championships. Tweet Today was the individual apparatus finals at the Commonwealth Youth Games.The English boys performed excellently in their apparatus finals, picking up seven medals of the 18 available, the English and Welsh girls followed suit. The English girls picked up five of the available twelve, while the Welsh picked up three.

Tweet Romania and Ana Porgras came out top at this World Championships warm up friendly competition over Germany and Switzerland in Erzinger, Germany yesterday.

This was Germany’s last trial before the selection of their Worlds Team takes place. Sandra Izabasa competed on bars, something that we have not seen in a long time.

A bit of work on it and Izbasa could become an AA gymnast again. Ana Porgras had the highest score at the event, a 15.300 on beam. Catalina Ponor did not compete with the Romanian team but as an individual, …

Tweet The men’s competition concluded shortly after the women’s competition this evening. England continued on top qualifying first and second and also winning the gold medal for the team competition.See below for the top 20 qualifiers:

The team competition finished with England in first place,Canada in second and Australia in third.

Tweet The gymnastics at the Commonwealth Youth Games kicked off today. Live scoring was available on two different websites. As expected Englands  Rebecca Tunney competed well and finished on top as did her team mate Abi Caig and Angel Romaeo from Wales. These gymnasts are expected to be the future of British Gymnastics. View the results below:

The English girls also finished top of the Team competition with Wales and Australia folowing behind in second and third place. I’m also delighted for the girls from Northern Ireland who placed fifth.
