In a months time, applications will open for tickets but please make sure that you have a VISA card to book with.

Check out BBC for more information.

So, what do we make of the prices? Am I naive in thinking that it would be £185 for the day session as opposed to just one? I’ve never been to an Olympics or any major gymnastics event but these prices seem extremely hefty to me.  Please leave a comment below with your thoughts.

I was thinking the same thing! If those prices are per session (which it suggests) that’s seriously expensive. I have 3 tickets to buy for my family, and even in the mid price range it works out to just under £200 for only 1 qualification round. There is no way to know who is competing in each round either, so when tickets go on sale you won’t even know who you are paying to watch! Not really a great deal unfortunately. At worlds in 2009 you paid for the whole qualification day, so u chose who you wanted to see or could see everyone if you wanted. Can’t say I am impressed with this system.

    Hey Katie,
The ticket prices are high but in my experience, everything in London is expensive. I’m willing to pay the cost because I think it’s worth it.

This article from the BBC says that a session includes several events.

For gymnastics though, it looks like most of the sessions just include one event, except for the event finals.

    What is a session?

Each ticket is sold for a specified session which may include several events, for example a session of swimming may include several heats and races.

Most tickets cannot be used to watch all the events taking place at a venue on a given day, just the specific session for which the ticket has been purchased

I have to agree Sarah. I’ve not been to a big gymnastics event so I don’t really know what to expect from the prices but given that they had said they were planning to make tickets affordable I think the prices are very steep. Flights and Accommodation included will make it cost a fortune and you know that the likes of Ryanair, Aer Lingus and all of the carriers will shoot the prices up in Summer 2012 to the UK. The thing is it’s such a big opportunity so at the back of mind I’m also thinking, this is probably a once in a lifetime chance for me!

According to this article, a session can include more than one event. For gymnastics though, it seems that each session only includes one event—except for the event finals.

Needless to say, I hope we both get tickets!
