Official Chelsea Davis injury update

The Gymnastics Examiner just posted an official update from USA Team doctor Larry Nassar with confirmation that Chelsea Davis dislocated her knee cap earlier today whilst performing a handspring front double full.

5:02 p.m.: Dislocated kneecap for Davis. Here’s the official word from USA Gymnastics:

Chelsea Davis of Austin, Texas, injured her left knee during a training session at the 2010 World Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands.  Davis, who trains at Texas Dreams Gymnastics, was examined at the training hall at the Ahoy Arena.

According to the team doctor, Dr. Larry Nassar, Davis dislocated her knee cap when she landed a tumbling pass with a bent knee.  Her condition is being monitored and treated by Dr. Nassar and the medical staff.”

Thanks Blythe for your quick and efficient updates.

it’s such a pity – hopefully she’ll be ok. The US girls aren’t in qualifiers until Sunday so maybe with a bit of rest she’ll be ok to perform.
