Coming into the Floor final, Aly Raisman wanted that gold medal, and she got that gold medal. Jordyn Wieber appeared tired and did not perform to her best, unfortunately placing seventh. Ksenia Afanseyva, the 2011 World Floor Champion had 2 out of bounds, Sandra Izbasa who was a favourite to retain her 2008 Olympic Floor title fell in her last tumbling pass. Australia’s Lauren Mitchell, the 2010 World Champion had a shot but a lot of her tumbling was low and short in comparison to the likes of Raisman, none the less she is Australia’s most successful gymnast and placed fifth, without any major errors. Vanessa Ferrari in her 1 short sleeved – 1 long sleved leotard with cut out shoulder tied with Russia’s Aliya Mustafina for third but again, due to tie breaking rules, Mustafina was awarded the bronze. Should Ferrari retire after these Games, this was a great stage to go out on with her dramatic and exciting routine, a shame she did not medal.
