It seems that Japan’s Koko Tsurumi will not be competing at this weekends American Cup. Tsurumi appears to have been removed from the competing athletes. Normally once the invitations have gone out the the federations and have been refused, it goes to the next federation on the list, however at this short notice I doubt that we will have anyone but another US gymnast at the competition. If I remember correctly, the USA will be able to bring in an exhibition gymnast as per FIG rules but their scores will not affect the rankings, think Gabby Douglas as the unofficial winner of last years American Cup. Although, please correct me if I am wrong.
Interesting…. so now we may have a big announcement of two names from the USA. USAG stated that they hoped to announce their last athlete yesterday evening or today so perhaps Tsurumi’s withdrawal has thrown a spanner in the works.
