Kieran Behan at London 2012 Test Event?

According to an article on the Surrey Comet, Ireland’s rising star Kieran Behan may be eligible to compete at the London 2012 test Event and should find out today if he’ll be there.

Kieran’s Coach Simon Gale explains how he has come from nowhere to be the gymnast that everyone is talking about:

“Because of his injury problems he has totally flown under the radar and literally come from nowhere to get to this stage.

We’ve been at international meetings this year and have had people coming up to us saying ‘who is this guy?’ We, as his coaches, have always known he is good enough, but because of his injuries no-one has heard of him until now.

Ireland isn’t particularly well known for its gymnastics, which has only added to the mystery.

The Irish team is not good enough to qualify for the Olympics as a team, but because he is world number one we are hoping he can compete in the qualifiers as an individual.”

Simon and Demetrios and the rest of the team at Tolworth have done excellent work bringing Kieran back from injury and continuing with their plan. His sponsors Stoi Athletic Wear have also contributed to helping the self funded gymnast make his name known.

Best of luck to Kieran, we’re really rooting for you and hope to see you in London in January.
