Just for Fun: “Ultimate” AA Totals from Nanning

By Anna Rose Johnson

Just for fun, I have a list of the top 9 qualifiers to the women’s World all-around final. I took the best scores each gymnast has received in Nanning and put them together into one ultimate total. For example, Simone Biles’ vault and floor scores were from the team final, but her bars and beam scores are from qualifications. (She didn’t do bars in the team final and her beam score from prelims was higher than in the team final.) I didn’t extend the list beyond the top 9 because not many gymnasts competed in the team final. 🙂

So here they are…the best all-around totals so far from Nanning (sort of)! It’s intriguing that reigning world champ Simone Biles is second on the list, but this is because I had to count her uneven bars score from prelims, where she had an error. 🙂 I also found it interesting that Vanessa Ferrari is quite close to Yao Jinnan—it will be such a battle to see who wins the medals!

  1. Larisa Iordache: 60.032
  2. Simone Biles: 59.674
  3. Aliya Mustafina: 59.565
  4. Kyla Ross: 58.190
  5. Yao Jinnan: 58.165
  6. Vanessa Ferrari: 57.932
  7. Shang Chunsong: 57.623
  8. Ruby Harrold: 56.966
  9. Alla Sosnitskaya: 56.740
