Injury set backs

The KNGU has reported that Yuri Van Gelder has suffered an injury to his hand, which translates as a “hernia”. Despite the set back, they hope that he will still compete at the MAG Europeans at the end of May and will adjust his routines to suit the injury.

The Chinese Tumblr blog Blossom, Chinese Flowers Gymnastics has reported that Jiang Yuyuan has suffered a set back with a minor foot injury. The Chinese National Championships are coming up in the next few weeks, so let’s hope that Yuyuan stays fit for London.

French gymnast Clara Della Vedova has had her Olympic dream crushed as she ruptured her right Achilles Tendon and sprained her left foot while training at the National Team Training Centre. A description and explanation of this injury is here from a previous post. The gymnast told IG that the pain of losing her Olympic Dream is worse than the pain suffered from the injury.
