We need to remember that as coaches, whether we want to be or not, we are role models. If the gymnasts I coach see me talking, laughing and congratulating (or being congratulated) with other coaches, they will see good sportsmanship in action.

After a competition a few weeks ago many coaches were at the bar in the hotel, eating, drinking, laughing and catching up. I was initially annoyed that there were MANY of my gymnasts in that same restaurant. One of the parents caught me in the hallway and said that her daughter was surprised to see me sitting next to the coaches from "all the other gyms." I had to explain that we really are all friends. Do I want to beat their teams at the meet? Sure I do. And they want to win as much as I do. But that doesn't change the fact that we have a lot in common.

Sadly there is one coach/ club owner who is notably absent at any social gathering. She is also the same person whose employee ripped the results off the wall when she wasn't happy with the outcome. I am by nature a pretty friendly guy and I ran into the coach/club owner in the lobby and I asked her if she wanted a drink. She took the drink but didn't want to come in and join us. "No one likes me in there."
I told her- No one knows you.
Oh well, at least I tried.

Back in the mid-90s I had my first group of gymnasts who were competing Internationally. I was given some good advice from a more experienced coach. "Work hard in the gym with your athletes. But you will get more points if you work hard in the bar with the judges."

So after your next competition- Go have a beer with the other coaches.
Cheers!

Have you had a look at iCoachView for the iPad?

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/icoachview/id490022949?mt=8

Looks interesting, but I haven't made up my mind yet which to get - they all look like they'll do what they should...

with the possible exception of a delay feedback loop (i.e. delayed replay of live video for unattended self-coaching)

My sincere congratulations to the Great Gymnastics Professional Peggy Liddick! I never met her in person. But she is an amazing coach ! That's what are people saying around the World. But the biggest surprise for me was the time frame during which the Australian Government finally make a decision. Some other countries made it much faster in order to have a good coach or great athlete as soon as possible. Good luck, to a New Australian Lady, perfect Gymnastics coach and just a very nice woman. Honored Coach of Russia from USA

I started using V1 Golf and I liked it but wasn't satisfied. I have tried almost all of the golf swing analysis apps and apps like Coach's Eye and my favorite is Swing Plane. I think it is $1.99 and it is really simple and clean and easy to use. You can make folders and manage all of the videos easily. Import them from the camera roll if you want, upload them to Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube.

It is my favorite. Mostly because of the folders and because of how simple and clean it is.

My interest in based on a group of young girls who trained with no one support to get to the Olympics and for a society with all the problems we face, me and a lot of people fighting for this cause believe that is upsetting when all what these young brave girls want to do is to BE PART, its the dream of their lives and yes there were rules and they accepted them beforehand but GB is being unfair! They stopped doing what every other teenager does, for love to this discipline, they are self funded and had no help at all. They are an example to follow for many girls and boys in this country, effort, discipline, dedication, commitment, sport, hours of training and sweating, years really. A real Inspiration...
They wont be able to make it in 4 years and they have the power to let it happen but they dont want to listen.
GB Rhythmic Gymnastics Group are a talented and dedicated group of rhythmic gymnasts who have been training hard full time with NO funding to be able to achieve their dream of competing at London 2012.

Even though there is a host country place available for them at the Games, British Gymnastics are choosing NOT to nominate them for this! At the Olympic Test Event, BG/BOA chose to set a benchmark score they wanted the girls to achieve.

Despite being agonisingly short (.273 points) of this target on qualification day and actually exceeding the score during the finals - BG have refused to give them this golden opportunity they have worked so hard for!
The next event day, they passed the mark impossed, showing that they are capable of, and this discipline isnt like football or athletics, there isnt an exact result really, is a judgement.

There is a petition opened and several websites i will paste for your information.

Thank you very much for the time
Please sign the petition to help get these girls to the Games and promote the beautiful sport of Rhythmic Gymnastics in the UK!
