Beth Tweddle visits Buckingham Palace (again)


Beth Tweddle was previously a guest at Buckingham Palace when she was honored with an MBE in 2010 for her contribution to and her success in the sport of gymnastics. Last nigt she joined other Team GB Olympic and Paralympic Medalists at an event in Buckingham Palace hosted by the Queen. Here, Tweddle and fellow Team GB medallists such as Daniel Purvis and Sam Oldham rubbed shoulders with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Kate as well as Prime Minister David Cameron and Princess Anne. The event marked the first such reception to include members of both TeamGB and ParalympicsGB.

In other Tweddle news, the newspapers and gossip magazines are rife with rumours that Beth has signed on to appear in the next series of “Dancing on Ice”, think Dancing with The Stars or Strictly Come Dancing but on ice.

Also, the sad death occured of Beth’s former coach, Fergus Beedham, from Crewe and Nantwich Gymnastics Club last week in the US. Beedham had coached Beth up until the age of 12. On hearing the news she told Nantwich News:

“I was so sorry to hear of Fergus’ passing.

“He was one of my first coaches when I started at Crewe and Nantwich.

“He taught me the all-important basics of gymnastics and took me to second in the country during the five years that I was with him.

“I am very grateful for all of his support during those early years and my thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.”
