Tweet Sydney 2000 Olympians Elise Ray and Kristen Maloney will be inducted into the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame for 2011. Also entering will be James “Jim” Culhane, Tamara Levinson, Stacy Maloney, Jill Hollembeak and Chelle Stack.

Tweet Amanda Turner linked to an article in the Jerusalem Post on International Gymnast about the gymnasts who were part of the 1928 Dutch Women’s Olympic gymnastics team who won gold in Amsterdam.
An article in the “The Jerusalem Post” recalls the terrible fate of Dutch gymnasts who helped win the women’s team gold at the 1928 Olympics in Amsterdam. Five of the gymnasts on the gold medal-winning team were Jewish, as was their coach, Gerrit Kleerekoper. Tweet The Romanian Gymnastics Federation has announced that the Romanian gymnasts (MAG & WAG) will not be travelling to Moscow to compete in the Moscow World Cup. The decision was said to be taken by the coaches based on training concerns. Since the original nominative entries, the line up has diminished… a lot. You might remember that the WAG gymnasts withdrew from the Cottbus Cup in March this year.

Many gymnastics blogs have reported the big news of FIG President Bruno Grandi’s recognition that the current Code Of Points (CoP) is a “ticking time bomb”. I’m delighted that he has finally acknowledged that something must be done with the CoP, nothing will change until after the London 2012 Olympics. Tweet Today, the FIG have confirmed that Romanian stars Catalina Ponor and Marian Dragulescu will return to competition. Most of us had been aware of Ponor’s return and Dragulescu’s return had been rumoured some months ago.

Tweet An excited clergyman was caught doing some gymnastics in Westminister Abbey after the wedding ceremony of Prince William and Kate Middleton today.
A Westminster Abbey spokesman said: “The verger, like all of us, was very pleased the service had gone according to plan, and was expressing his exuberance.”

Tweet A while back Gymnastics Coaching introduced us to an exciting video. The video was an introduction to a new style event due to take place in August 2011.
Evolution will have a cast of Olympic and world-renowned male and female athletes competing on two eight-person teams. The athletes will compete in a nonstop “skill-for-skill battle” backed by a production that will electrify and overwhelm the audience.

Tweet Tickets are set to go on sale for the 2011 World Gymnastics Championships on June 1st according to the official website. They provide ticket information, such as an event schedule however they don’t yet provide a link as to where tickets can be purchased. They’re probably waiting until the venue has been confirmed.

Tweet The Independent reports that gymnastics was the most searched for event when applicants were searching for tickets to London 2012. Whilst the report has differentiated between Rhythmic, Trampolining and Artistic Gymnastics, it’s great to see that there’s such high interest…except for those of us who are hoping to get tickets to our favourite sport! Behind gymnastics, the Opening Ceremony and Equestrian were the most searched for events.
It’ll be interesting to see what turned out to be the most applied for tickets when the figures come out. British Gymnastics reports …

Tweet Yesterday, the Russian Gymnasts website (also featured on Tatiana Nabievas website) issued the original nominative entries for the Moscow World Cup in their newsletter which featured the likes of Beth Tweddle, Alicia Sacramone and Rebecca Bross to name just a few. USA Gymnastics confirmed that neither Bross or Sacramone will be competing in Moscow.

Both the MAG and WAG line ups looks fantastic, lets hope they stay this way when the definitive list is released. These gymnasts have been invited to compete, so hopefully they all will attend. Tweet The Asian Gymnastics Union today released a report on the Japanese Nationals which saw two time world champion Kohei Uchimura upgrade his difficulty on both vault and bars. This was an important event, the report states that it had two important meanings, 1) it was a test event for the coming World Championships in October 2) it was the final Universiades trials for women. 84 male gymnasts and 84 female gymnasts competed on the first day and of these 42 men and 24 women proceeded to the second day.Wow, that’s …

Tweet Last night at 11.59pm was the deadline for applying for tickets for the London 2012 Olympics if you are from the UK and Ireland, the deadline was extended due to a massive surge over interest around the 10.30pm mark. Reports are now showing that the tickets in demand at this time were for sports such as Archery and Rhythmic Gymnastics.
