Eighteen year old Romanian gymnast Amelia Racea has announced her retirement from gymnastics. Highlights of the young gymnasts career were collecting six medals at the 2009  European Youth Olympic Festival, became the 2010 European beam Champion and placed third in the All Around at the 2011 European Championships. However she has not been seen much on the International scene in 2012, she was left off both the European and Olympic Teams, with her last International competition taking place last April in a tri-meet with Germany and Great Britain where she ranked lowest of the Romanians behind Ponor, Iordache, Chelaru and Bulimar .

Here she is with her gold medal performance in 2010 at the European Championships:

ProSport broke the news, with Anca Grigoraş of the Romanian Gymnastics Federation citing that Racea did not have any injuries but simply did not find pleasure in the sport of gymnastics any longer. Despite wishing that she would continue, I am glad that she leaves the sport with a healthy body.
