USA’s Paul Hamm was arrested for assault. Hamm is accused of assaulting an Ohio taxi driver after an argument. The Police report  states that he fell asleep and when the driver woke him up he said he would not pay the $23.00 cab fare, he also hit the driver in the mouth with his elbow. Hamm is due in court on September 15th after posting bail on account of three charges, assault, criminal damaging and for not paying for a service. Gymnastics Examiner has the full story. According to the Associated Press USA’s comeback kid Paul Hamm is to have surgery for a shoulder injury.
“This is extremely disappointing since I have come so far and was preparing to compete in February,” Hamm said in a statement through his agent. “I fully intend to rehab my shoulder with the goal of making the team and competing in the London Olympics.”
“Though I am upset that I will not have the opportunity to (compete at Winter Cup) … and may not be able to compete at the Visa Championships …

Paul Hamm is on the comeback, hoping to make another run at the Olympics.
The 2004 Olympic all-around gymnastics champion tells The Associated Press he has quit his job in the financial industry and is heading back to the gym to start training full-time, in hopes of making the U.S. team for the London Games in 2012.
