Tweet The organisers of the London 2012 Olympics today released the route that the Olympic Torch will take next year in the lead up to the 2012 Olympic Games. In a years time on May 19th the Olympic Torch will be lit and will begin it’s 70 day journey from Land’s End all around the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland.
The torch is expected to travel an estimated 8,000 miles around the UK, beginning in Lands End where it will eventually make it’s way to London to travel around the capital …

Did you get yours?
From today applicants will find out if they have been lucky enough to purchase tickets for the London 2012 Olympics. Money will be withdrawn from bank accounts between today and June 10th, for those who were successful in applying.

Tweet Those of you from the UK and Ireland interested in buying tickets to the London 2012 Olympics have your last chance to apply to purchase tickets today. At 11.59pm, applications close. I’ve not yet applied for tickets, I’m really not sure what to do. The cost is really getting to me, I’ll make my mind up later today. I’m definitely going to purchase tickets for the test events in January next year. Make sure not to leave it too late!

Thursday 28th June – 7pm – Men’s Competition Day 1
Friday 29th June – 5.30pm – Women’s Competition Day 1
Saturday 30th June – 11.00am – Men’s Competition final day
Sunday 1st July – 5.30pm – Women’s Competition final day
Tickets can be purchased through participating gym clubs and www.sanjose2012.com. All-Session package pricing will range between $200 to $600 per seat depending on seat location

Tweet Last night a large clock was unveiled in London’s Trafalgar Square kicking off the 500 day countdown to the start of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The steel clock measures 6.5 metres high, five metres long and weighs around four tonnes. Its design is to reflect the look of the Games, with beams inspired by London and its connection with the Prime Meridian in Greenwich, the home of time. Read the full press release here.

Tickets for London 2012 are now on sale and will remain open for a period of six weeks, closing at 11.59pm on Tuesday 26 April 2011. Some points to help you when buying tickets:
A VISA card is required for booking

Tweet I’ve seen many people online asking about pre Olympic tests in 2012, in the lead up to the Games. It’s a great chance for some people to see some of the top gymnasts, knowing that they won’t be able to afford tickets to the actual Olympic Games. Luckily, the London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG) has this week announced a comprehensive testing programme which will form a key part of its preparations for the Games in 2012.

When the prices were originally announced back in October, I thought £150 for the preliminaries isn’t too bad. The day by day schedule for the London 2012 Olympics is due to be released tonight at midnight (Greenwich Mean Time). Check out the BBC website tonight when it is released.
