Russian gymnast Kristina Goryunova was suspened back in 2010 for suspected use of . Goryunova was tested following the Russian National Championships in 2009 and tested positive for a banned substance that contained the diuretic furosemide. This resulted in the then 17 year old becoming ineligible to compete at the London 2012 Olympic Games as a result of an International Olympic Committee ruling. Athletes suspended by their national federations for more than six months are automatically ineligible to compete at the next Olympic Games, Goryunova was suspended for a year.
