USa powered through after three near perfect vaults in rotation one to 3 fantastic floor routines in rotation 4 to claim gold. Russia who had two major errors on floor from Grishina and Afanaseyva settled for silver, Romania who made no major mistakes during their competition placed third. China, like Russia shed tears over their placing. Also, an incredible placing for Canada who had a rather good competition.
I attended the Women’s Team Final, it was an increidble experience. From the moment I set foot in the North Greenwich Arena yesterday the feeling of excitment was tangible. We brushed sholders with Elizabeth Price, Sarah Finnegan, Anna Li, Bill & Donna Strauss, Mary Lou Retton and the beautiful Alicia Sacramone who took a good bit of time out to have a chat with us. Final standings were as follows:
- USA 183.596
- Russia 178.530
- Romania 176.414
- China 174.430
- Canada 170.804
- Great Britain 170.495
- Italy 167.930
- Japan 166.646
Congratulations to the USA, a well deserved medal placing. Also the US girls scored top on each apparatus. Full results can be viewed here.
