Gymnasts nervous of Tokyo

According to a report on Yahoo Sport “most European teams are said to be unwilling to go to this year’s world artistic championships in Japan because of fear of a nuclear crisis”.

Andrei Rodienko is quoted as saying:

“It’s a delicate issue but the bottom line is Russia as well as the majority of European nations are firmly against sending their athletes to Japan”

He also told Reuteurs that Moscow are set to step up if the World Championships are pulled from Tokyo, as well as California, Stuttgart and Paris. This is despite that organisers of the World Championships releasing their 5th newsletter which continues to insist that Japan is ok to travel to. We only have another 2 weeks or so until the FIGs final decision,so lets see what happens.
