Glasgow World Cup 2012


On Saturday 8th December the new Commonwealth Arena in Glasgow plays host to the Glasgow World Cup, the only world cup competition to be held in the UK. The top 8 male and female gymnasts in the world will compete for the All Around World Cup title. Glasgow will host the 2014 Commonwealth Games so this is a great chance to see how things may work for hosting in the future. The Arena will be one of the largest in Europe boasting the below features:

  • 5000 seat indoor arena
  • 2000 seat Velodrome/extreme wheeled sports centre
  • 3 sports halls/1500 capacity event area
  • Dance Studio
  • Glasgow Club Gym (55 equipment stations)
  • 4 outdoor 5-a-side pitches
  • Conditioning Suite
  • Café
  • Conference facilities
  • Spa facilities (including beauty treatment​)

This will not be the first time that the new arena will be used for a  gymnastics competition, the 2012 Northern Europeans will be hosted by Scotland in October and will take place in the arena.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday 28 September 2012 at 9am from the official website. There is also an exclusive online pre-sale for  facebook and twitter fans today  at 9am for 48 hours. If you want priority tickets, you had better get following and liking!
