The first of its kind, the Chetkovich Cup is a new and innovative competition that will involve all seven disciplines of gymnastics including Women’s and Men’s; Artistic, Rhythmic, Trampoline, Cheerleading and Acrobatic gymnastics, with all teams competing for the Cup named in honour of Western Australian gymnastics coaching and administrative great, Liz Chetkovich.
London 2012 Olympians Lauren Mitchell and Emily Little are scheduled to compete as well as Beijing 2008 Olympian Olivia Vivian and Janine Murray as well as the hotly tipped gymnasts who are set to become Australia’s next generation of top gymnasts Paige James, Francheska Fusha and Molly McKenzie.

On the 26th of October Challenge Stadium will host the major new gymnastics event for 2012, the Chetkovich Cup. Brought to you by Gymnastics WA and e Event Promotions, the event will showcase West Australia’s talented gymnasts in a new and exciting format.
The Chetkovich Cup will introduce the concept of a team challenge, mixing athletes of different gymnastic disciplines into six teams. Giving the audience an opportunity to watch all the Gymsports perform on one evening, in one competition.
Six team leaders have been chosen for the evening, including three WA Olympians;
• Dual Olympian Lauren Mitchell
• Olympian Janine Murray
• Olympian Emily Little
Ticket holders have a rare opportunity to meet and greet the Olympians and talented team leaders before the event at GWA’s athlete’s hub.
Gymnastics WA vice president and founder of the new event, Richard Elkington said,
‘The Chetkovich Cup gives Gymnastics WA an opportunity to display the wonderful talent in our state’.
