Chen Yibing set to defend Olympic title

Speaking today at the Media Day for the Chinese Olympic Teams in City of Lisburn Salto Gymnastics Club, Ye Zhennan, the Chinese Artistic Gymnastics Olympic Head of Delegation confirmed that Chen Yibing did not sustain a serious injury to his knee last Saturday and is believed to be fit to defend his reigning Olympic Rings title from Beijing.

“He has a small problem, not a very serious problem. He is ok, you can see in his training that he is ok, he can perform good and is training well.”

Yibing could be seen after training, walking with a slight limp and spent 15 minutes or so with an Accelerated Recovery System attached to his leg. An “ARP”,  I’m told is a new innovative technology which stimulates the nervous system to help relax and elongate muscles, promoting healing and less scar tissue formation. It uses a low voltage current to penetrate the injured muscle tissue, thus breaking down the existing scar tissue, leaving no harm to the injured athlete.

The media just saw Yibing on Rings and he’s still got it!
