MAG & WAG Irish National Team & Apparatus Championships 2013

This weekend Gymnastics Ireland will host the MAG & WAG Irish National Team and Apparatus Championships in the University of Limerick. Running alonside this will also be the National Tumbling Championships. Running over 2 days, this looks to be a long weekend of competition. See the schedule below:

Saturday 18th May

Session 1: 9am – 12.40pm WAG: L3 U11, O11, L6 U11, L5 U11, O13 MAG: Dev G3 L3 U8, U12, U10,
Session 2: 1pm – 4pm WAG: L6 U13, O13, L3 U9, L5 U13 MAG: YOG Trials, Dev Gr 4 U12, U10, O12
Session 3: 4.30pm – 8.10pm WAG: L2 O11, L2 U9, L4 U9, L7 U13, L2 U11. MAG: Dev Gr 2 – U8, U 10, U9, U7, U12 & O12

Sunday 19th May

Session 4: 9am – 1.20pm WAG: FIG Minor, Junior, Senior, FIG Open Age, L10 U13, U15, O15, L9 U13, O13, L7 O13 MAG: FIG Jnr, Snr, Mnr, Int Gr 6, Dev G 5 U12 & O12
Session 5: 1.45pm – 5.25pm WAG: L4 U11, O11, L8 U11, O13, U13, L7 U11 MAG: INT Gr 1, Int Gr 2-4

Full Twist will be working with Gymnastics Ireland at the event providing social media updates. Full scores will be published following the competition.

British MAG & WAG Team Championships 2013

All is quiet in the gymnastics world at the moment. One of the next upcoming events will be the British Gymnastics MAG and WAG Team Championships on May 19th. Taking place in Guilford in the Guildford Spectrum.

Celtic Cup 2013

The annual Celtic Cup competition between Junior and Minor gymnasts from Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Ireland and Isle of Man takes place this coming weekend on the Isle of Man. Both MAG and WAG competitions will take place.

Gymnastics Ireland have announced their delegation but the other participants have not been announced on their Federation’s website, although it is known that Scotland’s Louise McColgan will compete.

Schedule

Friday 10th May will be dedicated to podium training for the gymnasts.
Saturday 11th May is when the event kicks off. This will be a team and All Around competition.

Salamunov Memorial Cup 2013

And so the European Championships fades into the past and we move to another competition, the Salamunov Memorial Cup in Slovenia. This is the 46th edition of the competition, taking place Friday 26th – Sunday 28th April.

Participants

The latest participants list dates back to April 15th. As we all know, many may have withdrawn since the European Championshps last weekend.

In terms of MAG we will be looking forward to seeing the following (to name a few): Tomislav Markovic (CRO), Courtney Tulloch, Frank Baines, Dominick Cunningham, Anthony Wise, Ashley Watson (GBR),Eleftherios Kosmidis, Eleftherios Pterounias (GRE), Andrew Smith (IRL), Dmitrijs Trefilovs (LAT), Roman Kulesza (POL), Rok lavora, Saso Bertoncelj (SLO), Alex Naddour, Paul Ruggeri (USA) and Pham Phuoc Hung (VIE).

The WAG competition boasts: Lisa Ecker (AUT), Ellie Black, Victoria Woo (CAN), Kristyna Palesova (CZE), Vasiliki Millousi (GRE), Dorina Boczogo (HUN), Ana Sofia Gomez Porras (GUA), Teja Belak, Sasa Golob (SLO) and Thi Ha Thanh Phan (VIE).

All you need to know: European Championships 2013

The one of the biggest events since the London 2012 Olympics has finally come, the 2013 European Gymnastics Championships. This year, Euro’s will be an Individual Championships – an All Around and Event Finals competition only, with the Men’s and Women’s competition being run together in Moscow, Russia.

All you need to know: 4th Austrian Team Open April 6th 2013

The Austrian Open returns for a fourth year in 2013. 13 countries or so will be represented at this weekends competition in Linz, the third largest city in Austria. For some teams, this may be one of the final events to help select European Teams ahead of the Championships in Moscow, April 17th – 21st.

Competitors

Germany and the Czech Republic today withdrew from the competition. Belgium and Poland withdrew a couple of weeks ago, The nominative list has been released which features the following highlights:

Fabian Leimlehner (AUS) returns to competition following shoulder surgery after the London 2012 Olympic Games. Lisa Ecker, who missed out on attempting to qualify for the London 2012 Olympic Games due to a torn ACL after the Tokyo World Championships, will also compete.

Britain will be represented by a strong field – Becky Downie, Niamh Rippin, Georgina Hockenhull, Kelly Simm and Raer Theaker. Scotland will be represented separately by Amy Regan, Kirsty Campbell and Eilidh Craig.

The Netherlands will send forward 2013 European Championships competitors Chantysha Netteb and Noel Van Klaveren as well as Vera van Pol.

Switzerland will send forward Claudio Capelli and Pascal Bucher as two of the seven Swiss MAG competing.
