A message from Japan

2011 ART WCH Tokyo (JPN)

Yesterday Full Twist and a few other blogs posted on Olivier Strebel’s visit to Japan to inspect the competition arena and training halls in preparation for the 2011 World Championships taking place in October. The organising committee have posted a message on the website today confirming that no major damage was caused to the venues during last weeks tragic earth quake and tsunami. They still hope to host the event in October.

Dear Friends of the Gymnastics Community around the World,
We, the Organizing Committee would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all, who involved in gymnastics around the world for showing their concerns and sending us lots of messages after the massive earthquake which struck Tohoku and Kanto areas on Mar. 11th.

There are many issues still remain around the devastated areas,
but we have been continuing preparations for the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships

Tokyo 2011, including the on-site visit which has just completed by FIG Media Official.

We strongly believe that the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships Tokyo 2011 would be the one of the meaningful events to encourage us, Japanese on our long way to recovery.

So far, there are no major problems in the venue, training halls, accommodation facilities where we would host gymnasts and relevant parties from overseas.
There is also no change in schedule for the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships Tokyo 2011.

We are looking forward to see You in Tokyo in October.
